JPG to PNG (and PNG to JPG): When to Convert

Useful when you need lossless re-editing or transparency — but converting a JPEG to PNG will not restore detail already lost to JPEG compression. File size usually grows.

PNG → JPG

Shrinks photos for web and email. Expect some quality loss — use 80–90% quality for a balance.
