- How many characters can Code 128 hold?
- This generator accepts up to 80 characters. Longer values make a very wide barcode that is hard to fit on a label and harder for handheld scanners to read in one pass, so keep identifiers short.
- Does Code 128 need a check digit?
- It uses an internal modulo-103 check character that is calculated and embedded automatically, so you do not enter one. Unlike EAN or UPC, the check character is not shown in the human-readable text.
