Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Chess Crown handles information when you use the Chess Crown mobile application (package name: com.needanytool.chesscrown). Chess Crown is provided by iCorp Overseas Consulting Private Limited under the Need Any Tool brand. Need Any Tool is the Google Play developer name. Website: https://needanytool.com. Contact: icorpplaystore@gmail.com. This policy applies only to the Chess Crown mobile app. The Need Any Tool website at https://needanytool.com may have a separate privacy policy covering information collected through the website.

Our privacy approach

Chess Crown is designed as an offline-first chess app. Gameplay, Stockfish engine analysis, puzzles, ratings, and progress run locally on your device. The app does not require account registration or login; does not upload your games, puzzles, or progress to our servers; does not use a custom backend or cloud database for gameplay; does not display advertisements in the current version; does not include paid, Premium, or subscription features in the current version; does not use advertising, behavioural analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs; does not include third-party crash-reporting SDKs; and does not sell or rent user information.

Information processed on your device

To provide chess features, the app processes chess-related data locally on your device. This may include game positions (FEN), move lists and PGN text you create or import, puzzle progress and attempts, local rating, points, tiers, achievements, and streaks, board theme, piece set, sound, haptics, and difficulty preferences, saved or unfinished games, and optional local notification preferences (for example daily puzzle or streak reminders). This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to Need Any Tool.

Local storage

Chess Crown stores preferences and progress in on-device storage (for example MMKV / app private storage). You can clear app data through your device settings, reset statistics where the app provides that option, or uninstall the app to remove information stored in its private application storage. Files or text you deliberately export (such as a shared PGN) are controlled by you and may remain elsewhere on your device or in another app you choose.

Notifications

If you enable reminders (such as a daily puzzle or streak reminder), Chess Crown may schedule local notifications on your device using the operating system notification APIs. These reminders are generated on-device. In the current version, Chess Crown does not use a remote push-notification server operated by Need Any Tool to send marketing or behavioural messages. You can disable notification categories in the app settings (where available) or revoke notification permission in your device settings.

User-initiated sharing and export

The app may let you share or export chess content (for example PGN) using your device’s system share sheet or similar OS features. When you choose to share: you decide what to share, you select the receiving app or person, and the transfer is initiated by you. Need Any Tool does not receive a copy of shared content unless you deliberately send it to us (for example by emailing support). After content leaves Chess Crown, the receiving app’s privacy policy applies.

Open-source engines and bundled content

Chess Crown includes bundled offline content and engines, including the Stockfish chess engine (GPLv3) running locally (for example as an isolated WebAssembly / UCI worker), chess rules via chess.js, and tactical puzzles derived from the Lichess open puzzle database (CC0) bundled for offline use. These components run on your device for gameplay and analysis. They are not used to upload your games to Need Any Tool. Third-party license notices appear in the app’s Credits / Notices screens and related documentation.

Permissions

Chess Crown requests permissions only when needed for a feature you use. Notification permission may be requested if you enable local reminders. Other system capabilities (such as haptics or audio) use standard device APIs for in-app feedback and do not grant Need Any Tool access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or precise location. You may deny or revoke permissions in device settings; some related features may not work without the required permission. Core offline chess play does not require an internet connection.

Data we do not collect

Based on the current version of Chess Crown, we do not collect or receive through the app: the contents of your games or imported PGN; puzzle solutions or local ratings; contacts; precise location; financial information; health information; advertising identifiers for ad targeting; or biometric data. We do not sell personal or sensitive information.

Third-party services and app stores

The current version of Chess Crown does not intentionally include advertising SDKs, behavioural analytics SDKs, third-party crash-reporting SDKs, social-login services, cloud game sync, or payment / subscription services. Google Play, Apple App Store (if distributed there), and the mobile operating system may process installation, device, security, and diagnostic information independently under Google’s, Apple’s, and the OS provider’s own terms and privacy policies. If you rate the app, the store review flow is operated by the store, not by Chess Crown’s gameplay systems. If third-party services are added in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the store Data Safety / privacy nutrition labels will be updated before or when those services are introduced.

Children’s privacy

Chess Crown is a general entertainment and training chess application and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not require accounts and does not transmit gameplay data to us, we do not knowingly maintain personal information belonging to children.

International data transfers

The app does not transmit your local games, puzzles, or progress to Need Any Tool servers. Therefore the current version does not perform international transfers of that on-device chess data to us. A third-party app you choose for sharing may transfer information according to its own policies.

Data retention and deletion

Because Chess Crown does not use user accounts or a remote database operated by us, we do not maintain an online user profile that requires an account-deletion request. Local information remains on your device until you delete it in the app (where available), clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app.

Your choices and controls

You can play without creating an account; choose whether to enable notifications; reset or clear local progress where the app provides that option; clear app storage in device settings; and uninstall the app to remove private application storage.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to reduce privacy risk by processing chess gameplay locally, avoiding unnecessary collection, and not operating a cloud account system for this app. No device storage system can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and keep backups of any exported games you care about.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s features or data practices change. When the policy is updated, the “Last updated” date on this page will change. Material changes will be communicated through the app or its store listing where appropriate.
